An espionage thriller where every loyalty has a cost.
A story built from the places I have worked in and the people I have met.
A story built from the places I have worked in and the people I have met.
I chose Beirut because it reflects the world I wanted to explore. It is a place where history, pressure and human decisions collide. The city sits on its own edge and carries a tension that feels honest. That atmosphere shaped the characters and the choices they face. I wanted the story to feel real and grounded, with moments that echo the complexity of the world we live in.
Beirut Extraction grew from observing how politics, conflict and loyalty move quietly beneath the surface. Many of the ideas in the novel come from watching real-world events unfold and understanding how quickly circumstances can shift. These influences helped build a world where truth and trust are never simple.
Emma is an intelligence officer who sees more than she admits. She understands the cost of loyalty and the danger of silence. Her strength comes from experience and her ability to read a room before anyone else notices the tension. She became a central part of the story because she reflects the quiet resilience found in real people who work in high-pressure environments.
Writing has always been a way for me to make sense of the world. My life at sea, my work in education and my time around security environments have shown me how people behave when pressure rises. Beirut Extraction grew from those experiences. It was important for me to write a story that felt honest and human, even when the stakes are high. I hope readers feel that connection on every page.
